Begonia benariensis 'Big Green Leaf Red'

Fibrous Begonia

Big Begonia Green Leaf Red is part of a stunning new landscape series of begonias. Plants are vigorous, with an upright arching habit and 2 to 3 inch self-cleaning blooms. The flowers are held above the glossy foliage. Try these as a focal point in mass plantings or utilize in borders, edges, large containers or hanging baskets.

Spread: 12-15 in

USDA Zone: Zones 10 - 11

Color: Red

Growing Tips for Homeowners:

Big Begonias make a fantastic presentation in the landscape.  This interspecies hybrid is a true breeding breakthrough.  It can handle full sun (bronze leaf plants tend to tolerate sun better) or part sun locations. Make sure soil stays moist but drains well so plants never sit in water. The Big Series is a vigorous grower that should have a granular, slow-release fertilizer applied at install, followed up with a complete well balanced liquid feed application every couple of weeks. Space plants between 12 to 15 inches apart and watch them fill in (traditional begonias are often planted around 8 inches).
