Alyssum lobularia maritima 'Snow Crystals'

Sweet Alyssum

Snow Crystals was the variety of alyssum that changed the game. Greater vigor, improved heat and wind tolerance to go along with larger more long lasting flowers has made Snow Crystals a must have.  The scented blooms on Snow Crystals  are a pure white and rest on lush, green foliage.

Height: 6-10 Inches

Spread: 12-14 Inches

Color: White

Interesting Notes:

Snow Crystals was introduced back in the late 1980’s and was the first tetraploid alyssum to come on the market. Being a tetraploid means that it has twice as many chromosomes as older (diploid) varieties.

Growing Tips for Homeowners:

If you like low maintenance plants, then alyssum might just be your ticket! Alyssum is  a fan of prolonged dry periods so be sure to water regularly, especially if considering many utilize it in containers on borders where plants tend to dry out faster. Alyssum is not a plant requiring loads of feed so a pre-applied granular slow release fertilizer along with a periodic dose of a well balanced complete liquid feed should suffice. As blooms begin to fade, don't lbe afraid to cut the plant back.  They will rebloom quickly and this will help keep your alyssum looking tidy.
